Terroir

The soul of
Valpolicella.

A landscape that
becomes identity.

Between Verona and Lake Garda lies one of the most fascinating wine regions in Italy: Valpolicella.
A harmonious landscape of gentle hills, orderly vineyards, woods and small villages that safeguard ancient traditions.

Here, wine is not just production but an integral part of culture and daily life. It is the result of a balance between nature, climate and human knowledge.

The vineyards

The vineyards of
Osan and Bertarole.

The Corteforte vineyards extend over three hectares around the medieval courtyard estate, in one of the most suited areas of Valpolicella Classica.

The south-west exposure, the altitude between 150 and 300 metres above sea level and the strong temperature variations favour a slow, balanced ripening of the grapes.

The soils, of volcanic and basaltic origin and enriched by red stone and limestone, give the wines depth, structure and aromatic complexity.

Since 1990, the vines have been cultivated according to the tradition of the Pergola Veronese, a historic training system that naturally protects the bunches and guarantees the quality and integrity of the fruit.

Here, nature creates the perfect conditions for every harvest to express the most authentic soul of the terroir.

A place that is not merely to be observed, but invites you to experience it, walk through it and discover it slowly.

Recioto di Corteforte

Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOP
At harvest, the outer parts of the bunches are selected (in dialect recie, meaning "ears", hence the name "Recioto") from Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara and other old native grape blends permitted by the production regulations, and then left to dry naturally.

Amandorlato

Recioto della Valpolicella Classico DOP
Many consider it the "father" of Amarone. It was in fact appreciated by those who did not care for the traditional Recioto, considered too sweet: its fermentation was therefore prolonged until the percentage of sugars was halved (from 120/150 to 50/60), obtaining a more alcoholic and less sweet product.

Bertarè

Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOP (Organic)
The grapes are chosen through careful selection in the vineyard, in a double differentiated harvest, to allow the best ripening, and are immediately crushed and destemmed. Fermentation, carried out in small-capacity vessels, is conducted until the sugars are exhausted with frequent pumping over, to obtain a perfect extraction of the aromas and flavours of the fruit. In April of the following year, the wine is re-fermented on the pomace of Recioto or Amarone, enriching it with further aromas, colours, body and alcohol content.
