Description
Under the latest production regulations of the Consorzio Valpolicella, the “Riserva” designation may be awarded to an Amarone with a minimum ageing period of four years starting from 1 November of the harvest year and with a non-reducing extract content of not less than 32 g/l, varying by vintage.
All Corteforte Amarones have always enjoyed a much longer ageing and refinement, as well as higher extract levels than those currently required for “Riserva”.
Although it produces other Amarones that meet the “Riserva” requirements, Corteforte has chosen to apply for this certification and to use the designation for only one of its products.
As per tradition, the best bunches are selected and picked at the right point of ripeness; this is followed by at least 36 months of ageing in barrel and 18 months of refinement in bottle.
