the technical sheet
An intense, refined, emotional wine that expresses the soul of Valpolicella.
Description
It is the Cru of Corteforte, vinified from the best bunches of a particular, small vineyard called “Osan”, located entirely on hillside terrain. “Osan” is a name derived from the Roman “Voxius”, which identified the tiny village (pagus) where present-day Corteforte stands.
“Osannato” is the result of a first selection of grapes which, picked at the right point of ripeness, are laid out in the air, in covered structures, to be selected once again during the drying process, which lasts until the beginning of the following year. After crushing, the fermentation of the grapes is very long because of the low temperature of the period and the high natural sugar content of the fruit, but for these very reasons it brings particular aromatic complexity and pleasantness to the wine. The Amarone “Osannato” will gradually improve its particular characteristics over time, with a longevity of over 20 years from the vintage.
