Our Amarone Amarone XXX anni in due secoli (30 years in two centuries) 2013 and Riserva 2011 obtained the gold medal in the competition Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada, one of the most esteemed international wine competitions in the world and the largest in North America. The 2020 edition was held under the patronage of the OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine) and of VINOFED (World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits competitions).
The 27th edition of the competition has been held with great success in Quebec City from November 18 to 22, 2020 in accordance with the health protocol imposed by government authorities.
More than 2,160 registered wines from 33 countries took part in this 2020 edition. This represents an increase of 38% and an exceptional international representation. This impressive increase in the participation of winemakers demonstrates the desire to gain recognition in the Quebec and Canadian markets, as the country is the 7th largest wine importer in the world by volume, a volume that keeps on increasing.
Among the trends worth mentioning for this edition, we note that 55% of the participating products are red wines. Also, 22% of the wines presented can be categorized as coming from sustainable agriculture, organic, biodynamic, natural, or oranges, an impressive percentage.
To carry out this edition, a jury of 60 people coming from the entire Canadian wine industry conducted the tastings in accordance with the rigorous sanitary protocol imposed by government authorities. They participated in 144 tasting sessions over four days to submit their scores.
